Lotmead Farm

Places to Visit

Lotmead Farm is the place to go for a great family day out! We were The Farm Retail Association’s Pick Your Own of the Year in 2016 and 2017, and a finalist too in 2019.

Lotmead was originally a dairy farm and remains so today - you can watch over 250 cows being milked every day, as well as enjoying our pick your own fruit and vegetables, exciting play area and serene nature trail.

As well as pick your own, there's a host of adventures for little kids and big kids!

Children’s Adventure Play Area

There’s now even more to our fruit themed play area to stimulate young adventurers – once you’ve helped the farmer track down the strawberry thief, come and visit his factory! This hand-crafted wooden structure provides an amazing space for pre-teenage children with varying levels of exciting physical challenges with walkways, platforms and climbing frames.

Children can still enjoy our tyre tower, swing, monkey bars, maze and a giant bee! Plus there’s lots of space for children to run around in. With our café and farm store close by, you can sit outside and relax with a tea or coffee and bite to eat whilst keeping an eye on the kids as they play.

Small animal enclosure

For animal lovers there’s a small animal enclosure with a selection of pygmy goats, alpacas, pigs, calves, chickens, guinea pigs and lots of small furry animals that children simply adore.

Firm favourites back this season include Denzil the donkey and Tango the Shetland pony, Strawberry and Cream, last year’s pygmy goat babies who will be showing you how much they’ve grown, and pigs Rosie and Blossom, as well as last year’s Kunekune piglets Poppy and Petal, will be waiting for a back scratch from you too.

Nature Sanctuary and Bird Hide

Our Nature Trail is approximately a 1km walk and leads to a small lake and bird sanctuary. The lake itself is nestled within a wetland reserve and fringed with rushes as well as a variety of wetland flora and fauna. It’s a natural sanctuary for herons, mallard ducks, teals, coots, moorhens and visits from the occasional deer, which you just might be able to spot from the Bird Hide.

Dairy Parlour

Everyday from 3.30pm to 5pm you can see 250 cows being milked from our visitor gallery where information is available about the whole process as you watch. By arrangement, farm walks and tours can also be organised to give you a greater insight into the world of dairy farming.

Farm Shop, the heart of Lotmead

Our well-stocked Farm Store sells a wide variety of locally sourced produce and sometimes a selection of pre-picked vegetables. Our shelves are filled with local milk from Lotmead and cream from Berkeley Farm Dairy in Wroughton, we also have Hinton Marsh Farm sausages and burgers for your BBQ, cheese and yoghurt from local suppliers and home-baked cakes made in our farmhouse kitchen here at Lotmead.

Our cafe serves a tasty variety of hot and cold snacks, drinks and sandwiches all freshly prepared each day, as well as slices of home-baked cakes, ice creams, soft drinks and juices. We have lots of outside seating, including picnic benches in the children’s play area so you can relax outside with a bite to eat and a cup of tea whilst keeping an eye on the kids as they play.
