Swindon offers a variety of family-friendly activities that won't break the bank. Here are some ideas for things to do in Swindon with kids for under £10.


Lydiard Park 

Lydiard Park is a beautiful historic estate on the western edge of Swindon, with the Palladian House, Church and Walled Garden, set in 260 acres of parkland. The children's play area, Cafe & Tea Rooms, events and education programmes make Lydiard Park a great destination for a family day out. Dogs are allowed in the grounds and the park is a lovely destination for a walk, run or bike ride. There are BBQs available to hire in the summer and lots of picnic spots.

Town Gardens

Town Gardens in Old Town is known for its beautiful trees, rose garden, bandstand and picnic spots. There's also a family-friendly cafe to grab a coffee with friends. There are plenty of hidden corners and secret paths, so it's perfect for a treasure hunt; you can create your own clues and watch your kids have fun trying to work them out!

Canal Walk

The Canal Walk is a fantastic buggy friendly walk and great for cycling with lots of benches so you can stop and admire the beautiful views. This 5 mile circular walk visits the Wilts and Berks Canal, the Old Town Railway Path, Lawns Park and Queen's Park and offers nice views of the surrounding countryside.

Coate Water Country Park

Coate Water Country Park has a 56-acre reservoir built in the 1820s as a headwater tank for the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal. There are plenty of activities for you and your family to enjoy whilst there, including a play area, a splash park, barbecue hire and a nature reserve.

Queen's Park

Queens Park is a hidden gem just a stone's throw away from the town centre (Town Hall end). The park is open daily throughout the year although all the gates are locked at dusk. You can enjoy the large lake and feed the ducks and swans, visit the "secret garden" and there is a large open space for your kids to run around in and play.
