



Barbury Castle
Overlooking the town of Swindon, this 60 hectare site is notable for its chalk grassland and associated wildlife. The iron-age hill fort is the best example of this habitat, as part of it has remained undisturbed since ancient times. The thin soil with good drainage allows only specialist plants to grow.

- As an isolated site it is perfect for wildlife watching, walking, mountain biking and horse riding
- The amenity field next to the car park is perfect for flying a kite and exercising dogs
- Picnic site
How to get there:
The park lies about three miles south-west of Chiseldon. From the M4 Junction 15 follow the A346 towards Marlborough until you see signs for Chiseldon. Then follow signs for Barbury Castle. From Swindon take the A4361 (Croft Road) towards Wroughton. At the junction by the Morrisons store, take the B4005 towards Chiseldon. Then follow signs towards Barbury Castle. By bus, the Thamesdown Transport service No 70 stops at Draycot Foliat this is the closest point to the site.
